  LA-DIGUE ISLAND

Five kilometers long by three wide, La Digue is the fourth largest island in the Seychelles. Just 43 kilometers from Mahe and 6 kilometers from Praslin, La Digue lets you experience all the fascination of an untouched island. Inhabited by a small community of 2000 people, the rhythm of local life here is relaxed and slow. The colonial style architecture surrounded by the natural beauty of the local flora bring back memories of times past.

As cars are very rare here the best way to get around on La Digue is either by foot or bicycle which are easily found for hire. You can then venture to explore the beautiful isolated beaches dotted around the islands coast and don't forget to visit the Anse Source D'Argent, with its beautiful white sand beaches and pink granite rock formations that have made it become one of the most photographed beaches in the world.

If you are lucky while venturing through the wooded forest roads or paths, you may catch a glimpse of the elegant Black Paradise Flycatcher of which there are only a few examples left in the world. This bird is easily identified by its black plumage and long thin tails.

After a long day of exploring, stop by one of the small local restaurants and get a taste of the genuine Creole cuisine!
